Old shit is fun!

So, going through my GE C443 Record Player and R2R tape player/recorder, I can see that I need to do some serious work on the electronics. First, the tape player right spindle operates intermittently, if at all. I can see by pulling it out, I'm going to be elbows deep in 50 year old technology and will be using some of the most offensive profanity heard since A Christmas Story. The record player has a slight oscillation when playing a record, which improves by lubricating the motor spindle and drive wheel, using Phil Wood Tenacious oil. I know the drive wheel is warped, and I suspect the motor isn't up to par. I think with a little time and the right parts, I could get the record player sounding perfect. The R2R, on the other hand, will be a bit of a project, I suspect. Maybe I'll send it out. It is nice to recline in my Eames Rocker and listen to old Tammy, Loretta, Hank, Kitty, and Waylon, regardless of a little oscillation in the sound.

The original owner's manual from GE. Apparently I have a lifetime warranty on the stylus. I would cash that shit in if it wasn't working so damn well. They must've done something right.
